The Balearic Islands
Sticking with Spain, it would be impossible not to mention the Balearic Islands. Ibiza and Majorca (Mallorca) are best known for their lively, party atmospheres, but both offer a lot more than that. With a great climate and wonderful beaches, there are some great holidays to be had on both islands. Both are also very suitable for family holidays - don't forget that each has a number of different resorts, with a different feel to each. Menorca is known as being quieter than the other two but, once again, makes an ideal family beach holiday location.

Some people have been discovering the delights of the resorts that were popular 15 years ago. Split, with its nearby beaches and fantastic, historic centre is somewhere that's well worth visiting.
Cyprus
When you look at it on a map, you might wonder whether it's even in Europe. So far to the east of the Mediterranean that it has a climate with more in common with Israel than with continental Europe, Cyprus is a spectacular place and has some of the best, sandy beaches in Europe. Although the northern part of the island is opening up to more visitors, most still head for the south.
Amalfi, Italy
Italy has its own style when it comes to beach holidays and this seems to be particularly evident in Amalfi, south of the city of Naples. If you love Italy and love beach holidays then Amalfi could be the perfect place for you!
