Chunky Pine Furniture
The type of furniture that you choose can have a massive impact on the way that the interior of your home looks. If you make good choices then you can create something that combines comfort with style. But, when things go wrong, you can be left with a room that simply doesn't look right.
This was a problem that confronted me the last time that I came to decorate my living room. I wanted a new bookcase, somewhere to store my DVDs, a coffee table and a mirror that could be placed on one wall. In some cases, these pieces were replacing older, tired versions. In other instances, they would be objects that had never previously existed in the room.
I found that decorating the room was pretty easy. As a family, we spent a fair bit of time leafing through magazines and looking at various style websites. As a result of this planning, we were pretty certain about the colour scheme that we wanted and it all looked great. We even selected curtains and cushions that matched the colour scheme really well. But what about furniture choices? Would it be possible to find some furniture that would really go with the overall look?
I liked the idea of selecting wooden products. They tend to go well with almost any decor - or so I thought!
I started looking at pine furniture in various stores but nothing seemed quite right. I didn't wanted painted pine options, as that really seemed to defeat the object. But some coffee tables, for instance, didn't look as strong as I wanted them to be. We tend to pile up magazines, letters and newspapers on the shelf at the base of the table, so it was important that it shouldn't collapse under the weight of all the paper. What I really needed was solid pine furniture - something chunky!
That didn't prove easy to find, although I did eventually track down what I was looking for at Pine Solutions (so a "thumbs up" to that particular website!). I was relieved, on receiving the products, to find that they looked really good. I bought a mirror separately (from a local market stall) and the general effect is really good.
Had I proven a little too hard to please? Possibly, but furniture is a pretty large investment and I feel it's important that it should last for some years. I'm happy with my own purchases and would also say that Oak Furniture Land offered some great chunky furniture too - it was mainly oak though (I guess their name suggests as much!) and I was looking for something a little lighter.
